Description

The main objective of the project is to develop, implement and validate a set of tools/methodologies for an early warning, forecast and alert, emergency planning and risk management system, named HIDRALERTA.
This WebGIS system will help responsible authorities to monitor, prevent and/or manage overtopping and flooding emergency events in coastal and port areas. The test cases are Costa da Caparica and Ericeira harbour.
 

Objectives

A system for monitoring, forecasting and early warning, emergency planning and risk assessment for overtopping and flood situations; Satellite images, video and numerical modelling methodologies for the definition of flooded areas; Video methodologies for prototype and laboratory application; A validated numerical model for overtopping and flood simulation; Quantitative risk assessment methodologies; Emergency plan system; Operational and validated prototypes at Ericeira harbour and Caparica
