Description
This project is related to the knowledge of the characteristics of road runoff pollution (composition, quantity) being discharged from roads, its potential impacts on
water bodies and related ecosystems and the need to construct treatment systems for impacts mitigation.
Objectives
- Collate evidence based data on road runoff pollution and use it to revise existing sound tools able to predict road runoff pollution in terms of loads
Results
The project started in September 2017 and there are still no results.
Next challenges
Building on the critique of tools developed to derive pollutant loadings and concentrations and assess receiving water body vulnerability, approaches to support the mitigation of identified risks using sustainable drainage technologies during road operation and construction (WP4) will be developed.
