Description

LIFE ÁGUEDA is a project aimed at (re)naturalising the morphology of various stretches of the Vouga, Águeda and Alfusqueiro rivers, as well as restoring the associated habitats, in order to achieve the objectives of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the Floods Directive (FD). The central objective of LIFE ÁGUEDA is the elimination or substantial mitigation of hydromorphological pressures previously identified in the area and river sections to be intervened. 

 

Results

Removal of river obstacles (weirs)
Installation of fish passages: 3 permanent (naturalised) fish passages and 2 temporary fish passages;
Removal of Invasive Alien Species
Reforestation: more than 17,000 plants and cuttings were planted;
Awareness-raising activities: more than 7500 participants were involved:
