Entity
Description
MINEA (Ministry of Energy and Water) is the governmental body responsible for the areas of energy, water and sanitation. The “Water for All” Program is a national program that aims to provide potable water access to population in rural areas of Angola (target of 80% national coverage).
Under this assignment, Tecnoplano developed the Design for 101 Water Supply Systems in the provinces of Moxico (41 villages) and Cuanza Sul (60 villages), covering 195.812 inhabitants (population in 2013).
Objectives
- Improve the quality of life of the population, allowing sustainable socioeconomic development.
- Reduce the public health risks due to the lack of potable water and poor sanitation services.
- Ensure the water supply to 80% of Angola's rural population.
Results
As of January 2018, the rural population covered by the water supply systems was about 148.000 inhabitants in the Province of Cuanza Sul, which corresponds to a coverage rate of 100%, and 40.100 inhabitants in the Province of Moxico, which corresponds to a coverage rate of 83%.
These percentages only concern the Rural Population covered by this project.
