Description

The Water and Energy Losses Management Program (PGPE) aims to support AGS' companies in the development and implementation of an Integrated Water and Energy Losses Management Plan, in compliance with the strategies defined by the utilities in their infrastructure asset management plans. Given the existing technical expertise, PGPE intends to continue the improvement of the utilities' performance and challenge them to improve the integrated management of water and energy.

Objectives

  • Development and implementation of an Integrated Water and Energy Management Plan to control water losses and improve energy efficiency
  • Improve medium and short-term planning capacity
  • Introduce the methodology for the calculation of energy balances, contributing to a more comprehensive view of the system
  • Consolidate the water balance computation approach by improving knowledge and estimation of non-revenue water components
  • Promote the standardization and organization of procedures

Results

  • Development of an Integrated Water and Energy Management Plan
  • Integrated approach for water and energy
  • Improvement of real and apparent losses estimation
  • Computation of new metrics
  • Promoting efficiency in the water management
  • Increased data reliability
  • Increased capacity building of teams and know-how development
  • Computation of customer meters error
  • Procedures for computing water balance and energy balance
  • Analysis of flow meters
  • Monitoring the action plan
  • Action plan feasibility analysis

Next challenges

Water:

  • Improvement of the knowledge regarding customers meter error under the scope of the implementation of an integrated metering management methodology
  • Planning and implementation of residential telemetry to support the operational management of the systems regarding the analysis and knowledge of consumption, categorization of clients, management of frauds and illegal consumptions
  • Integration of real-time monitoring of flow, pressure and customers' consumption

Energy:

  • Real-time monitoring of energy consumption
  • Implementation of an energy management system with the development of diagnosis to identify inefficiencies and energy audits to determine causes and establish solutions
  • Integrated analysis of water and energy losses
