Methodologies and Tools for Flood Risk Assessment in Madeira Island

The research project contributed to : Fully exploring the existing precipitation records to obtain precipitation-duration-intensity curves that may be used to define precipitation events; Jointly analysing precipitation records and landslides events to determine empirical rules that identify the triggering conditions of landslides from total precipitation and precipitation duration; Exploring results from a 2D mathematical model that simulates flow and solid material transport in an integrated way.
