Description
LabRios+, the Rivers Laboratory and Rivers House, is a space that demonstrates the various solutions for improving rivers and streams, namely through natural engineering techniques, thus becoming a space for demonstration and environmental education in the region, while at the same time contributing to climate regulation, air and water quality, and enhancing the landscape of this previously abandoned space. This space is located in the Boiça Leisure Park - Valongo do Vouga.
Results
- Improving the ecological status of the Aguiera stream;
- Restoring the riverside corridor;
- Recovery and re-naturalisation of the banks of the Aguieira stream through the implementation of natural-based engineering techniques: living wall, living piling, living coping or indentation;
- Organisation of various environmental education and awareness-raising initiatives: actions with schools, workshops and conferences;
