Description
Optimization of processes in the main consumers of electricity through the implementation of energy efficiency measures aimed at reducing consumption and operating costs.
Objectives
- As part of the implementation of ISO 50001, one of the objectives of Águas do Norte is to insert more infrastructures on the border of ISO
- The Barradas Elevation Station was evaluated in order to verify if this infrastructure could be optimized as to the consumption
- This unit represents almost 6% of the consumption and the total cost of the electric energy consumed in water supply
- Bypass the tank that supplies the EE and take advantage of the arrival pressure to reduce the lifting height
Results
This change resulted in a reduction in consumption and electricity cost of more than 30%, totaling an annual invoice of around € 270,000. In view of the results obtained, this infrastructure will no longer be an energy intensive consumer since it will suffer a reduction in consumption of more than 210 tonnes of oil equivalent and of 400 tonnes in CO2 emissions.
