Entity
Description
1. Exploitation of an existing LES code to highlight the effect of the suspended sediment concentration on flow field properties such as mean velocity, turbulent intensities, shear stresses, vorticity and Strouhal. 2. Systematic 3D ADV measurements of the flow field for a limited number of laboratory pier models. 3. Validation and calibration of the adapted LES code capable of simulating the flow field and the equilibrium scour hole for suspended-sediment loaded flows on non-cohesive river beds.
Objectives
- A. Characterization of the effect of suspended sediments on the physical processes involved in local scouring at single piers. B. Development of a CFD
