Description
The increasing interest of the Institute of Agronomy (ISA/ULisboa) in sustainability issues, complemented by the importance of combating poverty, hunger and disease led to the creation of CENTROP - Center for Tropical Studies and Development in November 25, 2004.
Recognized since July 1, 2009, as an NGO by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CENTROP aim is to support the sustainable development in tropical regions, which is pursued along 3 action lines:
•To foster partnerships in scientific research regarding agriculture and rural development; •To provide education and training for technical, economic and social development; •To promote knowledge transfer and technical consultancy
CENTROP action is worked out through a multidisciplinary team of ISA professors
